To celebrate hitting one million Facebook fans in June, Febreze spent 50 hours expressing their gratitude. The odor-eliminating brand crafted an elaborate plan in line with the social media marketing trend that has major companies concocting attention-grabbing online tactics. Mashable.com reported on Febreze’s playful ploy.
The brand arranged for hundreds of employees to gather together at Procter & Gamble’s Cincinnati headquarters for a live streaming event that involved them saying “thank you” one million times. They scheduled 52 hours of time, which resulted in an average of 320 thanks per employee per minute. The next day, the team reconvened in the room, along with an array of smelly items the brand had requested from fans. For the next hour, the group uttered the French “merci” in addition to the English “thank you.” Apparently, Febreze was just having some good, clean fun in the name of social media marketing.
