Google recently announced the debut of Google+ Events, a new invitation service positioned to challenge the popular Evite platform. This is the latest move in the search giant’s quest for social growth. CNet.com reported on the introduction of the invitation system.
Google+ Events is designed to be more than a basic invitation service. First, it allows for the use of moderately animated looping photos to boost interest and grab attention. It also features a “party mode” that lets users instantly upload photos taken during the event onto a specific page. After the event, the service can email guests to ask for their event photos from non-smartphone cameras and gather them into a chronological order. The service is closely intertwined with both Google+ and Google Calendar, yet it allows anyone to be invited to an event, regardless of their online platform.
