The grand opening of the Max Plank Florida Institute for Neuroscience in Jupiter on Wednesday was accompanied by the news of a huge financial donation from Germany. Over the next four years, the Institute will be the recipient of $10 million annually to support their research in understanding brain function and neural circuitry. The Max Planck Society is a world-renowned research organization that has produced 17 Nobel Prize laureates. The Max Planck Florida Institute has been fortunate to receive substantial funding from numerous sources. was accompanied by the news of a huge financial donation from Germany. Over the next four years, the Institute will be the recipient of $10 million annually to support their research in understanding brain function and neural circuitry.This German donation follows the nearly $190 million furnished by Florida and Palm Beach County to build and support the 100,000-square-foot facility. The Institute currently has 90 employees working in nine research categories and plans to expand to 135 by 2015. Within the last two years, the Institute has received $900,000 in research grants to fund their ground-breaking efforts.
“Having some of the leading neuroscientists here will open the door to cutting-edge treatments, local opportunities for employment and spin off companies,” said former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in a video recorded for the grand opening event.
