Now Showing at the Boca Raton Museum: Valerio Adami

VALERIO ADAMI (Italian, 1935- ), La Nuvola (The Cloud)

Recognized as an important European artist whose work represents the French intellectual version of Pop art, Valerio Adami’s famous bold colors and flat forms with thick black contours evoke the appearance of cartoons. Yet his creative imagery intriguingly conveys many social, philosophical, political and literary references. Now through January 9, 2011, this exhibition presents a retrospective of more than four decades of work with 23 important paintings from the 1960s to his most recent paintings.

Taking inspiration from travel, poetry, music, literature and politics, Adami’s highly-stylized images and vibrant colors have evolved into an iconic pictorial language all his own. As an Italian artist educated in Milan and influenced by French Post-Impressionism, Adami’s fascination with culture and society shines through in this compelling collection of contemporary art.

Valerio Adami is on display now through January 9, 2011 at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park. For more information, call 561.392.2500 or visit www.bocamuseum.org
