Marriott debuted its Moxy hotels and Radisson introduced its Red brand of properties with the affordability, digital ease, and social connectivity desired by Millennials. These hotels also capture the local flavor and culture of their locations, which Millennials feel is lacking in most mainstream hotel chains.
Both Marriott and Radisson have developed a few of these hotel locations around the world, yet plan to debut more in the coming years to meet the Millennial demand.
Hot Hotel Apps Easing the Travel Experience
A number of new mobile apps are making travel a breeze. For example, travelers can have packing in the bag with the Dufl app. This new app lets travelers send their filled suitcase to Dufl to store it and then ship it out to their future destinations.
And for travelers looking for local recommendations to locally focused places instead of tourist traps, the Sidekix app gives travelers inside knowledge of the locals’ favorite restaurants and activities.
For last-minute travel, the booking app HotelTonight shows travelers affordable accommodations and makes it easy to reserve a room the same day or a week away.
Destinations Snapping Up Millennial Visitors with Snapchat
A number of major U.S. cities are finding that Snapchat gives them a real connection to Millennial travelers. These cities have recently launched Snapchat channels and campaigns to persuade these younger travelers to visit.
Philadelphia’s tourism department recently started a Snapchat channel and is filling it with articles and photos about the city, such as its special events, tourist attractions, and celebrity sightings. Across the country, the Los Angeles tourism board is spotlighting the city’s wide range of dining and entertainment options through special partnerships with popular organizations and influencers throughout the community. And, in Oregon, the state wants travelers to look local by using Snapchat to share stories and experiences from different areas in the state.
